Catching Up.

Wow! It's been so long since I've entered anything in here. Guess I've been THAT busy! Last year was AmeriCorps (domestic PeaceCorps type of thing) and school p/t. This year is work p/t and school f/t! Just finishing up my fall class schedule. I have one more exam on Monday and then I'm on break until Jan 24th! It will be nice to be able to read a book for me and not for class for a change. The kids are very busy. Older one is in Cheerleading...I threatened her that when she gets her pictures back, I'll get an 8x10 and hang it side-by-side with the one when she was really young! LOL OH it's times like this that I LOVE being a mother. The younger one? Hmm...she'll be 10 in January. She's in basketball...still can't believe I paid $35 for her to play so poorly lol But she loves to play, so I guess it's worth it. Speaking of January events....good ol' §tud and I will be sharing an anniversary! TEN years! Wow! Can't believe it's been that long. Time sure does fly...not just for kids getting older, either!

Summer Ramblings

GEEZ! And I thought the last post was long in between. Sorry folks. But then again, I wouldn't want to bore all of you to tears! lol
Let's see, what's on the news front right now?
I'm finishing up my term as an AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteer In Service To America, which is a big long name for Domestic Peace Corps). I've been doing this since August of 2009. It goes until August 2010. (About 2½ weeks left! SHEESH Time flies!) I deal with food, fuel and housing issues in the NEK of Vermont. I've really enjoyed this experience. I wanted to do another year, but there's nothing up here going on that I qualify for at this time. So maybe another term the year after this one.
We planted a massive garden (well, for me it's massive anyway) out by the creek on the edge of the property by Canada (see, I really do straddle the border of VT and Canada!) We've had plenty of lettuce and radishes come up so far. I had started cuke seedlings and had them growing quite well. Really enjoyed planting them in the garden out there. There was plenty of room for the 2 dozen or so plants. But alas, we went out about 2 or 3 weeks later and they had all been eating by some animals. So that's the only drawback to planting about a mile out from the house. (Yes, it really is a mile ONE WAY!) Looking forward to the tomatoes (MMMmmm, fresh salsa!) and all the dill and basil planted. We also planted swiss chard (like spinach), snow peas and green beans. Potatoes haven't come up. And lots of sweet pepper plants (red, orange and green).
I love looking after the Holland Garden which I get to do a lot of this summer. We've gotten basil, dill, cilantro and lettuce out of that garden while weeding and watering. I'm looking forward to the cukes from there and also more tomatoes, and green peppers. The garden out there looks really good and several families have been helping out to keep it watered and weeded. The Curriers and Samantha Tice have helped out in addition to Emily Mehr who started the whole thing in her AmeriCorps Farm-To-School program. Emily, you're definitely missed out there at the garden! NICE job you did getting some of the larger piles of weeds around the flowers and such!
Let's see now, my 9 yr old, "Bratigan" has been helping in the Holland Garden. She just loves going out there and helping me pick, weed and water! She goes to tutoring 3x's a week, so I usually go out and weed while she's in tutoring. Then she comes out and helps me pick and water. The 14 yr old, "Brat", has started "working". Yep, she's actually getting paid to work this summer. She works about 20 hrs a week and seems to like it. Right now all she's doing is organizing the mess of Tech Patrol (computer services company out by us). At 14, I really didn't think she'd be able to do much more than help them out. And they were gracious enough to hire her! Hopefully, she'll do well and earn lots of money for school clothes this year. Brat has also been in Summer Band this year (as she has in the past.) and all are looking forward to the Concert at the Gazebo on Newport's Causeway at 6:30 on this Sunday.
Bareman, hmmm, he's busy working. Well, not at this exact moment. He's off for the week. Then he gets a week off between Christmas and New Years. Not a bad deal really....every six months they have a weeks vacation? I wouldn't mind that! He likes where he works. He works in the warehouse doing all the shipping and receiving. During his time off this week he actually helped his dad build an outhouse for the campsite around the bend from the garden. Sound like fun? Not in my book..better him than me. But I guess if I end up having to use it down there, I'll appreciate it more! lol
Last weekend we went down to Mass. to visit Bare's Mom, sister and sis' boyfriend. It was a good time. We were headed to the beach, pulled in to park and it immediately started raining and didn't look like it would let up. So that meant the races were out for the night as well. We ate at a few of Bare's favorite places down there, all the places he suggested we go were really good eating! Looking forward to going back again. I love road trips! lol
Right now, I'm waiting to hear if I get my Post Secondary Education Grant. Been waiting for quite some time now and haven't heard anything! Hopefully I'll get it. That would mean that I would be able to go to school f/t and stop just taking a course here or there. It would also mean that I'd get my Associates Degree in Human Services sooner so that I could go on to get my Bachelor's MUCH sooner than one class at a time! What does all that mean? MORE MONEY, of course!
For all my FB friends? I really haven't been near it in a while. The reason being I just don't have the time at the moment. Hopefully, I'll be getting a laptop with my Ed Award from AmeriCorps so I can take online classes as well as keeping up with my social networks! lol
Well, that's all for now folks...have a great summer!

True Lemon, True Lime!

Ok is there ever a time you want lemon or lime flavor but don't want to take the time to cut up one? Then if you don't use it all right away, it goes bad. And heaven forbid you decide you want to take it with you somewhere. That just creates havoc. lol
I have the solution for all those problems and more. For Fantastic Lemon or Lime *(or even orange) taste without the mess ....Get True Lemon® and True Lime™. I absolutely love this brand! I use it in my teas without the adverse effects I get from fresh. (I'm allergic to citric acid, so that usually means...NO fresh citrus fruits!) This is the one product I can add for flavor without worry about an allergic reaction!

Try it and see for yourself if it's not as good as I say it is!....Click HERE for your free sample of True Lemon® and True Lime™

January 2009

OUCH! Been way too long since I've blogged. Been busy as friends have gotten me into FaceBook. And also my kids are into the Webkinz thing. Now that's a racket. It's like Ty Beanies meets Neopets Online. Scary, actually. The kids get purchase the beanie toy, in this case...I'll use the dog my little one got. She enters into the site and "registers" the UNUSED "code" into the system and it lets her "adopt" the "pet". (Wow lots of quotes here lol) She then gets three presents, items she can use on the site. One is usually a piece of furniture, another is an accessory and the third is a "food" item. The kids have to play with these as well to keep them happy. They also receive a "room" to decorate. Webkinz starts them out with so much in "Kinz Cash" that they can use to "buy" things to decorate the room. It's pretty cute. It just gets intense at times when the kids fight about who gets to go do their webkinz. (only one pc causes fights between the two lol)
I really don't mind them playing in the site. I know it's safe as long as they aren't "chatting" to their friends. The "pay" portion of the site they are required to verify that they're old enough. So it's basically harmless fun. It can just get expensive. They're usually about $13 a pop. So that adds up, especially when you have two kids who are BOTH collecting them. You can't buy one a webkinz without buying the other one UNLESS of course, it's a birthday! That was the only way I got away with it this year. So the younger one has one more Webkinz than the other. lol
*Other than that, I'm starting school tomorrow. Exciting classes: "Dimensions in Freedom" and "Intro to Nutrition". Required classes for any degree so I'm getting those out of the way. I should have a few credits I can apply towards my "technical" requirements as I've taken a few computer software classes in the past. Excel, Access and Word come in handy for quite a bit of college requirements. Should be interesting to see how fast I can get my degree.
Well, calling this section a day as I have a lot to do today. Have a good day everyone!

FANTASTIC SITE

OK my g/f, Randi hooked me up with this cool looking site. She lives just down the road a piece from me. So we both live in Vermont. This site she told me about looks fantastic. Over the years, I've exchanged things with my friends in a few foreign countries (well, to ME they're foreign, cuz I've never been there lol). I've exchanged things with my friend, §tud in England. Tempy in Italy, Charlie in Australia and Shakey in Northern Ireland. Now here's my chance to trade stuff with other countries across the globe. So I thought this idea was pretty darn cool!

These are things I'd like to receive:
~Toys or small novelty items(such as pens, paper, key rings or other little girlie things lol)~Magazines
~Candy or other treats~small plush items
~I collect coffee mugs

Things I'd love to send:~toys or small novelty items (such as ones listed above, but girl or boy, let me know)
~Magazines
~Candy or other treats
~Small plush items
~Basically, anything within reason, I'm glad to send off, just ask
